A Mountain Restaurant Where the Food is the Main Event
Catalan couple Bet and Arnau bought an existing restaurant in the mountain town of Beliver de Cerdanya in the Pyrenees. Their aim was to fully renovate, improve the catering kitchen and front of house spaces and convert the adjacent building into their home. They appointed a local architect to work on the core structural redesign, but asked us to provide consultancy on interior strategies.These included improving the restaurant acoustics, reviewing the lighting and advising on furniture and fixture styles that matched their aspirations and budget and could be implemented independently.
The restaurant was stripped of ‘frills’ and pastiche decor and the building’s authentic materiality was enhanced to provide a pared back setting for the food to take center stage
